Not sure why I am so worked up about this.. But then again so many people are fired up for a different reason.

The Columbus Crew is changing their name to the Columbus SC or Soccer Club. HOWEVER, they are still going to be effectively known as The Crew. It will just no longer be on the crest or in the official logo.

To me this makes no sense.. The branding release still referred to the team as THE CREW.. its a NICKNAME, just the Gunners for Arsenal. But there is NO Gunners on their crest or badge. All European teams have nicknames like this that the teams and apparel company's use so what is the issue.

Also I am pretty sure this is a not so secret mandate for the league to have the official team name be more like a European model.

If you want to be up in arms about the SUPER generic look and feel of the logo, cool. Be pissed at the 2 design firms that EVERY team decides to hire.. They stink.. sorry.. Should have hired Matthew Wolff.. the LAFC logo is glorious..
