The day I knew in the back of my mind was coming, but never wanted it to happen, is upon us..

Mr. Ks is for sale..

As someone whose grown up in Charlotte there are very few places from my childhood that are still around. This is one of them, in fact probably the ONLY one.

However there are actually A LOT of positives once you dive deeper into the story. They are not just CLOSING their doors like so many other staples, it's for sale. they apparently are still profitable and have a 10 year lease on the building. So what is actually for sale is not the land (which at 260k would have already been purchased and cleared for another set of Micro-effiecency Townhouses) but the NAME and everything in the building.

The grill, which still makes my favorite burger in Charlotte, the booth where Jerry Richardson ate Big Ks that probably lead to his heart attack, and so many other things.

So here is to hoping that the next owner decided to carry on with the local staple.

But if they do decided to change it.. I have a few request.. DO NOT get rid of the grill or the Big K, that means keeping the same meat supplier as well.

Acceptable changes might be opening earlier to serve classic diner breakfast items. But again, the reason for the current owner reason for selling is that he is tired of working soo many long days. Restaurant business is a grind I know this, and I can't tell you how many days I saw him standing over that grill in the weeds cooking burgers, so I am immensely thankful he was able to hang on as long as he did.

Another potential idea I am slightly OK with is Cheat's Cheesesteaks purchasing it, so it could be Cheat's Cheesesteaks at Mr Ks. - then it would be cheese steaks, and keep the burgers and milkshakes.. Just saying.. a Whiz Wit and Big K would be SO nice.

Alright I am going to talk to my peoples.. see if we can put something together.. hahaha, although If they do decide to sell off anything, I told my wife I am planning to spend a irresponsible amount of money on the grill.
