So apparently 90s Baseball movies are all the rage right now in TV.. and by rage I mean 3 shows being made right now based off classic baseball movies..
A League of their Own is in development starring Nick Offerman at Amazon Prime, should be solid.
Sandlot at Disney Plus, which I am really hoping they KEEP it set in the 70s, and maybe tackle some tough issues. But please don't make it modern, cause lets be real no parent just kicks their kid out of the house in the morning and says come back at supper, like they used too.
And now, probably spurred on by the most watched regular season baseball game in 16 years.. a Field of Dreams show, ordered straight to series from one of the creators of Good Place and Parks and Rec. So I am thinking it will have a more comical feel to it, but who knows..
So it got me thinking what else is out there? Bull Durham probably has to go to HBO Max.. it would be great.. really focus on the grind of an Minor League Baseball player.. mostly on how shitty it really is.. (I got sources..)
I am all for baseball and most sports based shows, baseball, golf or boxing seem to be the easiest because it's easier for an actor to at least faint competence. Football takes too many moving pieces and has been done.. Soccer has Ted, even if the actual soccer on the show is not great.. and it's really hard to have a basketball show were everyone is under 6 foot and believable, or find enough good actors that are over 6'7"
Alright that is enough rambling for today!
