Shittttttttttttttttttttt.... I was waiting for him to say it.. and when he did it was at the perfect time.
Pigeon-toed theory. I have been saying this for years, that pigeon-toed or bow-legged people are better athletes. And they go through a pretty compelling list early on in the movie. Loved that..
Enjoyed the narrative elements that added tension to the story. Introducing the land mine team essentially puts a ticking clock every time they go digging around.
The parallel's and references to Apolocyclse Now are interesting, or was I just reaching here? Is the slow descend into madness that Delroy's character goes through like that of the General? Or is there something else.
Maybe I was little drunk but I did have the random though that Delory and Chadwick were actually twins.. But pretty sure that was the case.
Also seemed there was some issues with the age of everyone, or I was confused about when they had kids etc.
It was a fine movie and loved what he did with the different aspect ratios and some of the scenes were absolutely fantastic. When his son is on the mine, and the cicadas is the only sound in the background, it's just an amazing scene. And some of the final scenes are quality as well.
However it does feel a bit uneven at times and it's about 15 minutes too long. But I feel everything is too long these days, maybe I am just getting old.
Also thought Spike did a great job sprinkling in social commentary and some good history about the Vietnam War and the effects it had on black society. The way he also was able to subtle get those jabs in at 45 was quality as well.
